This album is a tribute to Duke Ellington, and surprise there is no piano! I did this intentionally, I wanted to focus on his skill as a writer and composer. Hearing the tunes with different instrumentation gives the ear the opportunity to hear something it might have missed before. This easy listening, masterfully crafted record sets a mellow tone that’s hard to be ignored. It was crafted to be cozy, right down to the final mixes we recorded on tape to add to the warmth. With “I Like The Sunrise” coming out just days before daylight savings, there will be multiple opportunities to capitalize on that sunshine and perform/pitch the album in the heat of summer in the heart city.
