Hayden celebrates the 20th Anniversary of his beloved "Elk-Lake Serenade" with new editions available in both standard reissue and limited, hand-numbered deluxe double LP versions. The release marks the launch of a larger project that will see Hayden's Hardwood Records reissuing his extensive catalogue on vinyl, many for the first time.
"Elk-Lake Serenade was originally released in 2004, so I’m a few months late putting out this 20th Anniversary edition. In early 2002, I had just completed a few tours supporting my Skyscraper National Park record, culminating with Toronto’s Convocation Hall performance which was released as a live record that year. I settled back at home and began writing and recording what would slowly become my 4th full-length studio album. I chipped away at my new songs, mostly on my own, but a few talented folks helped out along the way - including my pals Howie Beck, the wonderful Burke Carroll and East Coast legend Julie Doiron (of Eric’s Trip) singing on the song “Roll Down That Wave”.” -- Hayden Desser, 2025
In their review of Hayden's "Elk-Lake Serenade" in 2004, The Guardian predicted "Chances are it'll grow on ya." and gave it 4 Stars. Just over 20 years later, "Elk-Lake Serenade" returns as an expanded edition to fill the void for all those many fans it did indeed "grow on". The deluxe edition includes 4 previously unreleased songs recorded during the Elk-Lake era: "The Show", “Girls Are Gross”, “In A Minute”, and “Hoping it Won’t Go Wrong” alongside fan favourites "Home by Saturday", "Woody" and "Hollywood Ending".
