Broken Shoes is the follow up to Almon Memela's 1975 album Funk Africa. Scarcer than its predecessor and under a different project name, Broken Shoes features two 15-minute tracks by the acclaimed guitarist backed up by Soweto's Pelican Club house band.

Recorded less than a year after Funky Africa, South African guitar wizard Almon Memela returned under the release name Soweto to issue Broken Shoes. The album features two fifteen-minute songs that saw Memela backed by none other than Soweto's Pelican Club house band.

The songs are funky, soulful, and full of swagger. Shimmering keys, soulful horns, funky bass lines, and expert guitar playing by Memela and ensemble on the album's two compositions.
