Inspired by Ella Fitzgerald, Miriam Makeba, Fela Kuti, and Prince, Les Nubians released Princesses Nubiennes in 1998. The album entered the Billboard 200, a first for an album sung mostly in French. Led by the hit "Makeda," the album helped shape the emerging Neo Soul movement. The 2LP set is available now on Blue vinyl.
