A Completely Reimagined Concert Version of Joe Hisaishi's Award-Winning Score!
Featuring the Royal Philharmonic with Hisaishi Performing the Solo Piano Part!

Joe Hisaishi's The Boy & the Heron: Symphonic Suite for Piano and Orchestra is a concert adaptation of the acclaimed score for Hayao Miyazaki's Academy Award-winning final masterpiece, The Boy and the Heron. The 14-piece suite offers Hisaishi's personal interpretation of the film, following Mahito's emotional journey through grief, memory, and imagination. Balancing intimate piano writing with rich orchestral textures, the work showcases Hisaishi's distinctive voice as composer, pianist, and storyteller. Created through an unusually open collaboration, Miyazaki gave Hisaishi exceptional artistic freedom after much of the animation had already been completed. The resulting score, among the composer's most distinctive works, is centered on the piano as both narrator and emotional guide.

Rather than simply arranging the film score, Hisaishi developed an independent symphonic work for the concert hall. Familiar themes from the film appear in new orchestral forms and come together to form an atmospheric suite full of emotional depth. An impressive album by one of the most significant film composers of our time.

The album is pressed on premium black 180g vinyl and comes with liner notes on a printed innersleeve, embellished with illustrations painted specially for this release.
