The Letter

Lovingly dubbed ‘anxious rock performed by day dreamers’, Wine Pride layers percussive and ethereal loops, with introspective themes amidst an arena of enchanting effects and a dreamlike overlay of reverb. Inspired by bands like: The Cure, Beach Fossils, Bdrmm and New Order, Wine Pride offer a nostalgic and dreamy gateway into the recent past.

Everything from the name to the music and visuals reinforces a sense of intoxicating delicacy and emotional depth. The aim of the project was to create an atmosphere that elicits moments of self-reflection and escapism by interlacing otherwise contrasting themes of melancholy and bliss. Combining ethereal tones of dream pop and shoegaze with a driving post-punk edge, Wine Pride create phasing instruments that fill the space and become more than the sum of their parts. Sharp basslines create a sense of urgency that is weighed down by a blanket of enveloping effects and reverberating echoic guitars.

"Originally Wine Pride was the name of my (Aaron) musical journal. I never felt fully comfortable writing down words to capture my daily experiences so I deferred to music as that outlet. Eventually, friends from the local North Carolina music and skateboarding scene would join me to jam and collaborate on some of the early DIY recording sessions.

In early 2019 childhood friends (the Kozlowski Brothers) would become permanent fixtures adding their surf rock and dream inspired tones and energy to the project. Wine Pride began playing shows and working on an album soon after this initial collaboration. Drummer Dylan Shane would join the band in the midst of the pandemic. His style was inspired by robotic drum machine patterns that populated our early output. 2023 has been a big year for the group not only because of the long awaited self-titled album, but also as Alex Hanifin would finally join as a contributing writer and bass player after his vital contribution to the band’s original project. Alex and I (Aaron) joined forces previously in bands such as; Broke Jokes and Buried In Roses."
