MORE INFO:

Why Do Birds Sing? is the fifth studio album from the textbook American cult band, Violent Femmes. First released in 1991, it was their last album with original drummer, Victor DeLorenzo. The darkly humorous and sharp-edged folk-rock collection features the hit “American Music,” as well as a cover of Culture Club’s “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me.” This 30th -anniversary 2-CD edition features a complete 1991 live set captured at The Boat House in Norfolk, VA, plus a trove of previously unreleased outtakes/alternate takes, and new liner notes by acclaimed songwriter/journalist Jeff Slate.
