The music of Language was written and recorded during a week and half long session that took place in January of 2022. The intent was to make a record of dance music that represents an evolution of the band’s sound while still adhering to it’s fundamental values of spontaneity, improvisation and groove. Most of the songs were conceived of and fleshed out on the spot, while a couple started out as homemade demos that quickly evolved into something more. I’m really proud of this album and to have been a part of its creation. It’s the first CATS album to feature a guitarist other than founding member Neal Casal, and while bittersweet, I’m grateful to have the opportunity to carry on his legacy and to be a co-author in a new chapter. Language represents four friends and musicians searching for the sound, and as always, these studio recorded versions are just the tip of the iceberg of what these songs will become live. *Album Blurb: Los Angeles-based instrumental supergroup Circles Around the Sun returns with the release of ‘Language’, their fourth studio album due out in early 2023. The group, known for their genre- bending skills, pays tribute to their origins while introducing their first body of work with now full-time guitarist John Lee Shannon. The album sequence will take fans on a psychedelic journey to a place of refuge, celebration, and peace, reflective of the band’s own journey.
