We're huge fans of both Edgar and Steven, and it's great to see them creating another killer time at the movies. Steven Price's score for The Running Man is a dazzling mix of propulsive beats, gurgling synths, and traditional orchestral elements that fizz with invention and style. The central theme has an elegant, timeless quality, with lush, calming strings weaving a hypnotic melody. Contrast this with the tracks that accompany the game show segments, which are really fun, bombastic, and retro, and which again contrast with the more sinister, dystopian pieces scattered throughout. Placed within the film, the music feels like another character pushing the story along.
